Thank you for your interest in the Leather Pride Contingent for the San Francisco Bay Area.  The Leather Pride Contingent consists of individuals and groups from the Leather and Kink Communities and their supporters from the Bay Area and further afield.

The Leather Pride Contingent is one of the largest contingents in the San Francisco Pride Parade.

NEWS FROM THE CHAIRMEN

There was a huge turnout for the San Francisco Leather Pride Contingent meeting on Saturday, May 12, where voting took place for Leather Marshals. Thanks to the all the Nominees who ran for 2012 Leather Marshal.

Congratulations to both the winners: LELAND CARINA and RACE BANNON, our 2012 Leather Marshals!

2012 LEATHER MARSHALS

LELAND CARINA
Leland Carina is a photographer, writer, and designer. She is a Senior Correspondent for Leatherati.com, Editor in Chief of Leatherpage.com, Founder of the current San Francisco girls of Leather, and an Organizational Representative on the Board of the San Francisco Bay Area Leather Alliance. In addition, Leland is currently assisting girls of Leather organizations to form and flourish in various cities across the country. During the day you can find her at the SF Armory, where she is a Graphic Designer for Kink.com.


RACE BANNON
Race Bannon is known locally, nationally and internationally as a practitioner, organizer, writer, speaker, educator, commentator, activist and leader in the realms of leather and related alternative sexualities. Race's accomplishments include founder of Kink Aware Professionals, leader of The DSM Project, author of a bestseller about BDSM, founder of a community publishing company, producer and host of Bound To Talk, Board member of NLA International, NLA LA, Avatar Club LA, Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities, National Coalition for Sexual Freedom and the Leather Hall of Fame. Awards include the 2006 National Leather Association International's Lifetime Achievement Award, 2010 Mister Marcus Hernandez Lifetime Achievement Award (Man) Pantheon of Leather Community Service Award, and the 2011 Philip M. Turner Lifetime Achievement Award.

OLD BUSINESS:

Last Year's Pride Parade

Members of the Leather Contingent won two "Absolutely Fabulous" awards in the 2011 Pride Parade.  One went to the SF Boots & Breeches Corp and one to the Pony Carts & Critters.
Congratulations! You made us all proud!
We were again the 2nd largest contingent in the Pride Parade.


NEW BUSINESS:

No. of Vehicles:

Jay and Michael need to need to know by March 29 how many current titleholders or clubs wish to ride in a vehicle.  Each has to provide the vehicle, four trained wheel monitors and a sober driver.  As we have to let Pride know by April 1st to secure permits, last day to request vehicles to ride in the contingent is March 29.  Also, each organization is asked to provide some trained Contingent Monitors.

Fundraiser:

We hope to have a fundraiser in earlier June to offset the Leather Contingent expenses.

Volunteer positions needed:

We will need to have 3-4 Banner Carriers for the Leather Contingent Banner.  We have 2 possible volunteers for Monitor Captains, and could use 2 more.

Those Titleholders with vehicles will provide their own vehicle, driver, four trained Wheel Monitors, and their own signs for their car. If any current Titleholder wishes to register a car in the contingent after April 1, 2012, there will be a $50.00 charge for a permit, due to SF Pride. Notify Jay first, if this is the case.


MOTORCYCLES

Anyone wishing to ride a motorcycle with the contingent is welcome. All vehicle safety laws must be followed. The motorcycles will have Sir Tom Pupp as Road Captain. Any questions should go to him at norcal_leathersir8@yahoo.com.


SAFETY

The Leather Pride Contingent must follow all safety rules as set forth by SF Pride.


MONITOR TRAINING

The Citadel is still waiting to hear from SF Pride to hear if Monitor training will again this year be scheduled at the Citadel, after the final Leather Pride Contingent Meeting in June. As soon as Jay gets the information on the monitor training sessions, he will send out the schedule.


FUNDRAISER

We hope to have a fundraiser in early June to offset the Leather Contingent expenses.


RMSF

The Rubber Men of San Francisco will be joining the Leather Pride Contingent this year. Welcome to Rick Holte and his club.


NOMINATIONS FOR 2012 LEATHER MARSHALS

Jay will announce the Nominees after getting acceptance of the Nomination from each of the 12 persons nominated, along with a short bio. Voting with take place at the May 12 meeting.

THOSE WISHING TO VOTE ARE REQUIRED TO BE AT THE MEETING TO VOTE IN PERSON.

Meeting of May 12:

Welcome and remarks by Jay Hemphill, Chairman: Jay thanked everyone for their cards, emails, and phone calls after his accident, which resulted in an operation on his broken wrist, and repairs to nerve damage to his hand.

OLD BUSINESS:

Monitor Captains: Deborah, Andrew, Rod, Roger
Do we need additional Monitor Captains?

Report on Sound Truck: We have rented the sound equipment, adding one speaker, so that DJ and MC can hear better.

Rental truck reservation has been made by Mark.

Banner Help: Mario has said that the Defenders would like to carry the banner this year. The banner leads the contingent.

Voting for Leather Marshals: Race Bannon and Leland Carina were elected the 2012 Leather Marshals. Thanks to all that agreed to run this year! Congratulations to the winners.
